Peru's National Registry of Identification and Civil Status (RENIEC) has informed that some 5,980 electors —in Oceania— will vote during the extraordinary parliamentary elections this weekend.
Peruvian nationals residing in said continent will be the first to cast their vote on Saturday 25 at 1:00 PM (Peru's local time).
According to RENIEC, this population increased 23.1% compared to that of the 2016 General Elections.
It added that the country with the largest number of electors on the island continent is Australia (5,452 balloters).
Likewise, there are 523 suffragists in New Zealand, 3 in American Samoa, as well as 1 in Palau and 1 New Guinea.
Moreover, women represent 56.9% and men 43.1% of the total Peruvian electoral population in Oceania.
Furthermore, the population with the highest participation includes adults between 40 and 44 years, while electors —who must cast their vote on a mandatory basis— represent 91%.
The new 130 legislators will serve the remaining period of the 2016-2021 legislative tenure, following the dissolution of Congress.
