About 6,000 Ecuadorian tourists are expected to arrive to the northern departments of Piura and Tumbes to enjoy the beaches during the long Easter holiday, the National Chamber of Tourism (Canatur) reported Monday. Canatur President Carlos Canales said the most popular beaches are Zorritos, Punta Sal and Puerto Pizarro in Tumbes, and Mancora and Organs in Piura.

He said Ecuadorians love the northern beaches because of their waves, good weather and varied cuisine.

"We think Peru is very attractive to Ecuadorian tourists because the packages we offer are very cheap", Canales told Andina.

He noted that Ecuadorian tourists usually stay in homes located on the seafront and which have been rented out months in advance.

"They will stay during the long holiday and take advantage of their stay to visit nearby attractions such as the Mangroves of Tumbes, for example," he said.
