Romanian Ambassador to Peru Camelia Ion-Radu affirmed that both countries are seeking to strengthen relations at a political, economic, and cultural level, because of this year's commemoration of the 85th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations.

In statements to Andina news agency, she said Romania and Peru have a "very close" friendship, because the latter was one of the first countries in Latin America to recognize independence of the European nation.

"On the occasion of this anniversary, several activities and plans have been organized to strengthen political, economic, and cultural relations between our countries," she remarked.

In this regard, the envoy explained that they have been working with the Peruvian Ministry of Foreign Affairs to arrange a visit to Romania by a representative of Peruvian diplomacy, as well as to organize other activities along with the Congress of the Republic, through the Parliamentary Friendship League.

"Besides, at an economic and commercial level, we want to arrange a visit to Romania by a delegation of Peruvian entrepreneurs and authorities," she added.

Moreover, the Romanian Ambassador asserted that the National Chamber Choir of the Romanian Ministry of Culture, also known as Madrigal Choir, is scheduled to visit Peru as part of these celebrations.

"Romania's national choir will be in Peru between March 10 and 20, for the first time in Latin America. This will be a special occasion to learn about Romanian culture through music, through one of the cultural ambassadors of our country," she told Andina.

Furthermore, the envoy stated that the Madrigal Choir will visit Cusco and record a video in Machu Picchu. Its visit to Peru will end with a concert at the Municipal Theater of Lima.
