Through the Qatar Charity Organization, Qatari Ambassador to Peru Ali Hamad Al Sulaiti delivered a significant donation of 50 modern ICU beds for the hosting country's Health Ministry (Minsa) and personal protection equipment for the Defense Ministry (Mindef) worth a total of US$250,000.

The donation is aimed at strengthening ICU rooms for COVID-19 patients at healthcare centers run by Minsa.

During the delivery ceremony held on Monday, Peruvian Health Minister Pilar Mazzetti thanked the Qatari diplomat for this important contribution.

"They come to us at a very opportune moment because we are better structuring Intensive Care Units (…)," she expressed.

The Cabinet member also thanked the State of Qatar for its support to the Armed Forces of Peru, which have done an outstanding job reaching remote places to serve the population.

In turn, Ambassador Ali Hamad Al Sulaiti indicated that Qatar has always had strong and close relations with Peru. Likewise, it has played a humanitarian role in many of the crises that the South American country has experienced. Now, it does so through the Qatar Charity Organization.

For his part, Deputy Minister of Resources for Defense Jose Boggiano thanked the support that the State of Qatar has also provided to the Defense Ministry, with the donation of more than 7,000 PPE units to safeguard the lives of Armed Forces personnel, who have been arduously supporting the institutions of the State and the Peruvian population.
