Meaningful political signals on a wider green agenda were given during the first day of the 20th session of the Conference of the Parties (COP20) announced Manuel Pulgar Vidal, Peru’s Minister of Environment and President of the said climate summit.
“There are very good political signals to tackle climate change and countries are on the same path,” he told the media on Monday.
The enthusiasm of the youth, women leaders, native communities and activists from around the world prevailed on the first day of the summit.
For the COP20 President, all the parties have a clear vision of their objectives, among which is the draft of the COP21 negotiations, that is intended to be approved next year in Paris, France.
Pulgar-Vidal emphasized that he perceived a very good atmosphere among the countries and their delegations during the opening ceremony. In fact, many parties have expressed their preliminary opinions, which proved they are on the same page.
