Peruvian Diego Elias was officially announced as the world's number 1 squash player by the PSA World Tour.
"It's official, Diego Elias is the new World No.1! The first player from South America to top the PSA World Rankings," the PSA World Tour posted on Twitter.
The 'Peruvian Puma', who finished second in the British Open, displaced Egyptian Mostafa Asal (1st), who did not participate in said tournament due to suspension.
So far this year, Elias has captured the crown at the J.P Morgan Tournament of Champions (January), the Motor City Open (February), and the Pittsburgh Open (February).
In addition, the Peruvian athlete was chosen the best player of the month last March.
