The President of the Republic, Dina Boluarte, on Tuesday emphasized that so far during her administration, the government has managed to guarantee that more than 400,000 Peruvians have access to decent housing, thanks to the Techo Propio (My Own Roof) and Mi Vivienda (My Housing) programs.

During her participation in the inauguration of the First Convention on New Social Interest Housing, Mrs. Boluarte indicated that her administration is promoting, through the Ministry of Housing, Construction, and Sanitation, a State policy focused on social interest housing aimed at those who need it most.

Likewise, the Head of State recalled that in April of this year, the new regulation on social interest housing was approved, significantly expanding the built-up area of these homes, as well as incorporating innovative and modern designs that improve citizens' quality of life.

Furthermore, the top official highlighted the creation of the Rental Housing Program, granting direct subsidies for the rental of adequate and affordable homes, as well as the implementation of second-use housing, thereby expanding opportunities for thousands of families to gain access to a decent home.

"Our commitment is clear and is not based on mere words, but is supported by concrete results. From December 2022 to June 10 of this year, we have guaranteed that more than 400,000 Peruvians have access to decent housing, thanks to the Techo Propio and Mi Vivienda Credit programs," Mrs. Boluarte stated in her speech.

The Head of State emphasized the importance of providing access not only to decent housing but also ensuring that it is safe and resistant to any emergency, following the recent 6.1-magnitude earthquake in Lima and Callao.

"Therefore, we are implementing the new social interest housing policy, because this government, our government, is not willing to repeat the path of neglect and indifference followed by previous leaders," she added.

In that context, the President reiterated her call for calm and responsibility in the face of earthquakes and other natural events.

"It is important to remain calm, keep your emergency backpack ready, and actively participate in the earthquake drills organized by authorities," she reminded citizens.

She also indicated that the convention inaugurated today aims to promote a new model of this type of housing, one that adapts to the new needs of Peruvian families, while showcasing the full range of housing bonds and government programs available to help them achieve the dream of home ownership.

"Our Government will continue working, thinking of the benefit of thousands and thousands of families —just as we are today— by offering this new housing option with more square meters, with more space for families to grow," she emphasized.
