Peru has a huge tourism potential that will be boosted by the
joint efforts of private companies, the population, and authorities so that this economic sector will also become an
important piece in the development of the country, President Martin Vizcarra has affirmed.
Within this framework, the Head of State stressed that his administration works decidedly to
promote tourism in the Inca territory, which involves the private sector in order to diversify the
tourist offer, as well as driving more national and foreign visitors to better know the Peruvian attractions.
Likewise, the top official mentioned it is necessary to set more ambitious goals, as the number of visitors to Peru is still very low, if compared with other countries in the region and other continents.
"We need an aggressive campaign of dissemination and information that must be created," said the statesman, underlining that Peru not only hosts important attractions, as is the case of
Machu Picchu (Cusco region), but also
other destinations such as Gran Pajaten and
Choquequirao, which have great potential.
During his speech, the Head of State stressed the need to coordinate efforts with local and regional authorities, having a "territorial national vision," since Peru is a megadiverse country that has many climates and
awaits more tourist visits.
Furthermore, he indicated that the improvement of regional
airports and road networks will enable the taking-off of
rural community tourism and the regions' attractions to be appreciated.
