President of Peru meets with Japan's Liberal Democratic Party Secretary-General

The President of the Republic Dina Boluarte received in an audience the Secretary-General of the Liberal Democratic Party of Japan and member of the Japan House of Representatives, Toshimitsu Motegi, on Monday.

The Head of State also received members of the House of Representatives Takashi Yamashita and Noriko Horiuchi, deputy general secretaries of the aforementioned party.


The event marked the 150th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Peru and Japan (1873-2023).

During the meeting, the authorities discussed the historical relationship between the two peoples. 

The Nikkei community in Peru is the third largest in the world, while the Peruvian community in Japan is made up of approximately 50,000 people, the largest Spanish-speaking community in Japan.

The event took place at the Government Palace in the Peruvian capital Lima.
