The President of the Republic Pedro Castillo on Sunday affirmed that the Executive Branch recognizes the efforts of labor unions in favor of workers' rights.

"It is an honor for me to address Peru's workers on their day, on International Workers' Day, from this historic dais," the Head of State remarked.

"I express my appreciation for their effort and permanent sacrifice to make our country great and to fight for justice, equality, and the well-being of all Peruvians," he added.

His remarks were delivered during a meeting with the General Confederation of Workers of Peru (CGTP).

Likewise, the top dignitary affirmed that the Executive Branch is promoting proposals that were left aside by previous governments, within the framework of his administration's commitment to workers' rights.

"This Government of the People is firmly committed to the rights of workers in Peru, to provide fair and decent wages for all," he stated.

"In no way will we curtail workers' rights, which are acquired rights. On the contrary, we work for millions of Peruvian men and women," the President pointed out.

Mr. Castillo underscored that the Ministry of Labor and Employment Promotion (MTPE) has promoted proposals related to the Labor Code, the minimum wage increase, the strengthening of collective bargaining, among others.
