The President of the Republic Pedro Castillo on Friday conveyed greetings to the Official Gazette El Peruano on the 196th anniversary of its foundation.

Within this framework, the Head of State highlighted the mission of this important media outlet in the country's history.

The top official pointed out that El Peruano is the oldest newspaper in circulation on the continent —founded on October 22, 1825, by Liberator Simon Bolivar— and has been published uninterruptedly throughout the nation's republican history.

"I want to send a warm greeting to its editor-in-chief, the management team, as well as the entire journalistic team and workers, and emphasize that —day by day— they fulfill the mission of informing citizens in a neutral, transparent, and equitable way," Mr. Castillo said in a video.

"The Official Gazette El Peruano is an essential part of our history because the regulations that have marked the future of our Republic are saved on its pages. Happy 196 years!," he emphasized.

The Official Gazette El Peruano celebrates 196 years of history. On October 22, 1825, the first edition of El Peruano Independiente became a reality, and months later it was named El Peruano.

On its pages journalistic information is disseminated, in addition to information of a legal nature through the Legal Regulations Bulletin.

The status of official makes El Peruano an essential consultation tool for companies, institutions, and independent professionals given that —through its publications— the validity of various legal regulations marking the development of our country begins.
