Peruvian President Alan Garcia welcomed his Argentine counterpart Cristina Fernandez de Kirchner –who pays a two-day state visit to the country- at the Government Palace in Lima

The Government Palace honor guard welcomed her upon her arrival at the Honor Courtyard, where she was received by Peru’s Head of State and Foreign Minister Jose Antonio Garcia Belaunde.

After the preliminary greetings, national anthems of both countries were played one after another.

The two Heads of State are holding a meeting in the Palace's Hall of Ambassadors in the framework of President Fernandez's official visit to Peru.

The Argentine leader began her official activities this morning by placing a wreath at the Monument to Pioneers and Heroes of Independence.

Afterwards, at 12:20 pm, both presidents will participate in the signing ceremony of a series of cooperation agreements.

At 19:35, President Alan Garcia will bestow the Grand Cross of the Order "El Sol del Peru" to President Cristina Fernandez at the Golden Hall of the Government Palace.

Finally, at 20:15, the Peruvian leader will host a gala dinner in honor of Cristina Fernandez de Kirchner also at the Government Palace.
