In recent weeks, we have taken important steps to promote major works that our country requires and to revive economic growth, the President of the Republic Dina Boluarte said on Monday during the presentation of a new administration report.

The Head of State affirmed that last Friday Peru and Canada signed the notice of commencement of contract negotiations for the execution of one of the most eagerly awaited irrigation works in northern Peru: the third stage of the Chavimochic project.

"This work will allow the incorporation of 63,000 new hectares of agricultural land in La Libertad region, with a total investment of US$750 million, which will create more than 150,000 productive jobs," she said.

Mrs. Boluarte noted that the Stage 1A section of the Lima Metro Line 2 connecting Mercado Santa Anita station to Evitamiento station —a project that had been stalled for 11 years, but was resumed with political decision and with a firm will— was also launched.

Another emblematic public work that will transform the country, the dignitary said, is the new Central Highway.

To this end, a definitive study began to execute this major project, which will connect the capital city with the center of the country, improve connectivity, reduce costs of heavy cargo transportation, and facilitate the transfer of export products.

Likewise, the top official stated that 55 bridges have been built and installed along the national road network: 12 permanent concrete bridges and 43 modular metal structures, including 750-meter-long Huallaga Bridge in San Martin region and 155 meter-long Union Bridge in the Valley of Apurimac, Ene, and Mantaro Rivers (VRAEM), Junin region.

Economic growth

Joined by State ministers, the Peruvian President stressed that, in recent weeks, in order to boost economic growth, environmental certification has been granted to 15 mining exploration projects, which represent an investment of US$92.7 million and will allow companies to continue boosting the regional and local economy.
