The President of the Republic Dina Boluarte on Friday stated that the State-to-State contracts signed with the United Kingdom constitute a unique opportunity to enhance healthcare services for the benefit of citizens in Peru.

This statement was made during her speech at the event for signing contracts to develop health projects in Trujillo (La Libertad region) and Piura (Piura region), northern Peru.

"Dear compatriots, since I took office, we have been working with results, and we have demonstrated this through our actions; these agreements represent a unique opportunity to start enhancing healthcare services for the benefit of citizens of our beloved country," she indicated.

In this regard, the president noted that fellow citizens' health "should not be postponed any longer."

She added that her administration is boosting the construction of more and better hospital infrastructure in Peru.

"I thank the United Kingdom for its support and trust in our Government to carry out these projects in Trujillo and Piura. This alliance strengthens the ties of cooperation and friendship, and allows us to advance on the path to forging a more just, equitable, and democratic Peru," Mrs. Boluarte expressed.

The top official said the signing of these contracts will not only benefit Peruvians in the country's north but will also be a "fundamental step in our commitment to enhancing healthcare services for our fellow citizens."

"By virtue of these two agreements, we will execute the new infrastructure of Trujillo Regional Teaching Hospital, in La Libertad, and the High Complexity Hospital of Veintiseis de Octubre district in Piura, thereby benefiting more than one million inhabitants in Trujillo and over three million in Piura, the latter of which will also serve patients from Tumbes, Lambayeque, and Cajamarca (regions)," she noted.

The president said that over S/1.4 billion (above US$375 million) will be invested in healthcare infrastructure in Trujillo. It will feature 28,600 state-of-the-art medical devices and be a level III-1 facility.

Regarding the future Piura hospital, it will also be level III-1 thanks to an investment of S/968 million (US$259 million). It will include 600 beds and more than 7,000 medical devices.
