The Presidency of the Republic on Sunday highlighted the importance of strengthening non-violent family bonds on the occasion of Peruvian Family Day.

Moreover, the government agency extended greetings to all families across the country and wished that love bonds would be strengthened so as to live in a fairer society.

"The Presidency of the Republic sends greetings to all families in Peru, wishing that love and family bonds would be strengthened today and every day of the year, thus promoting a fairer society that is free of violence," it stated.

In Peru, Family Day is celebrated on the second Sunday of September and seeks to raise greater awareness of the role and importance of Peruvian families in society.

This celebration was established by Decree-Law No. 23466, on September 16, 1982 during the government of former President Fernando Belaunde Terry.
