Peruvian scallops and silverside will regain access to Chinese market following the signing of a trade agreement between the South American nation's Production Ministry (Produce) and the
General Administration of Customs of the People's Republic of China (GACC).
"As part of the incorporation of fishery resources in the list of exportable products to China, we underpinned actions to reactivate the international trade of traditional resources of Peru, such as Peruvian scallops and silverside," the minister stated after the signing.
Barrios emphasized that this is a market opportunity for Peru to reactivate its exports and open an important niche.
Moreover, the cabinet member revealed the biophysical condition of Peruvian fishery resources, which showed no recovery in exports for six years, given that many negotiations had failed to materialize until now.
