13:16 | Santiago (Chile), Jan. 15.

Peru's male karate team won a silver medal with a score of 24.32 versus Turkey's 25.98, which ended first at 2020 Karate 1-Series A Santiago.

Santiago's Series A hosted more than 500 athletes from 65 countries and offered them opportunities to reach the highest level, as well as to score points in the World and Olympic rankings.

The Inca team was made up of John Trebejo, Mariano Wong, and Gonzalo Miura.

Peruvian karateist and Pan American medalist John Trebejo could not hide his joy because of the award he won on the world circuit in the neighboring country.

This encouraging result will serve as an incentive for him to continue growing with a view to the World Championship in Dubai, the most important sporting event on the WKF's 2020 calendar.

Likewise, athlete Gonzalo Miura indicated that it was his first tournament in the Senior category at the WKF.

"I am very happy since I won the silver medal in team kata along with John Trebejo Fernandez and Mariano Wong, who had always been supporting me. I want to thank Sensei Jimmy Moreno Moreyra and Sensei Raul Pintado Alburquerque for giving me the opportunity to be part of this team," karateist Miura said.

The competition was held at the National Stadium in Chile's capital city of Santiago on January 10-12.
