Peruvian food exports to Asia up 31.5% in 2021

12:13 | Lima, Feb. 13.

Export supply of traditional agricultural, farming agroindustrial, and non-traditional fishing sectors totaled US$1.572 billion in 2021, an increase of 31.5% compared to 2020 (US$1.195 billion), the Association of Peruvian Exporters (Adex) reported on Sunday.

The trend for high-quality products reveals a favorable moment for Peruvian entrepreneurs to seize. They shall identify buyers at THAIFEX – Anuga Asia.

THAIFEX – Anuga Asia, a large food and beverage exhibition in Asia, will take place from May 24 to 28 at Impact Muang Thong Thani in Bangkok, Thailand.

According to Susana Yturry, the manager of ADEX's Agroexports, this trade exhibition —the largest in Southeast Asia— will allow exhibitors to increase their business network and do business with the world’s key players.

"Thanks to joint efforts by the Peruvian Embassy in Thailand, Ocex Hong Kong, Peru's Exports and Tourism Promotion Board (PromPeru) and Adex, our country will be represented by eight exporting companies at the Peru Pavilion, where they will be able to showcase their products to foreign buyers, especially Asian ones," Yturry said.

"They (the companies) will obtain advice from the association (Adex) before, during, and after the event," she added.

According to Adex, the Peruvian products to be on display at said fair include fruits and vegetables available in different presentations, Andean grains, flour, Amazonian chestnuts, pisco, cacao, coffee, and sweets.

The list also includes fish products such as frozen giant squid, canned sardines, squid, shrimps, prawns, and anchovies.
