The dignitaries discussed the main issues on the bilateral agenda and the strengthening of joint efforts that Peru and Canada boost on the multilateral stage, including the defense of democracy and human rights, cooperation for inclusive and sustainable social development, empowerment of women and girls, as well as protection of indigenous peoples and the environment.
In addition, both authorities highlighted the soundness of commercial and investment ties, reflected in the fact that Canada is currently Peru's fourth-largest trading partner, with investment totaling about US$16 billion.
Likewise, Ambassador Denegri thanked the foreign diplomat for the important Canadian cooperation geared towards environment protection and development with social inclusion in Peru.
He also highlighted the cooperation of the North American country in times of the COVID-19 pandemic, reflected in the donation of vaccines, as well as the provision of molecular tests, supplies, and laboratory reagents to the National Health Institute (INS).
Lastly, both diplomats renewed the commitment of Peru and Canada to continue strengthening joint actions in the international arena for the promotion and defense of values shared between both nations.
The event was held in Lima on Tuesday.
