The President of the Republic of Peru Pedro Castillo and his Bolivian counterpart Luis Arce inaugurated the plenary session of the Presidential Meeting and VI Binational Ministerial Cabinet in the city of La Paz on Saturday.

During the inauguration, the Peruvian Head of State thanked the Bolivian people for the warm welcome, as well as the presence of both nations' State Ministers since "it is extremely important to reaffirm the identity of our peoples."

"We have been brothers, and we will remain brothers because we share the same soil, the same history, and the same hope. We do not see borders between Peru and Bolivia," Mr. Castillo expressed.

"Within the framework of the meeting, we have to include important topics on the agenda, so that the people notice them and the population knows that we care about them," he added.

In this sense, the top official urged dignitaries to work for the well-being of children and vulnerable peoples of both countries.

For his part, Bolivian President Luis Arce stressed that Peru and Bolivia used to be a single people before and after the Spanish Colony. Thus, both countries share many cultural bonds.

"For us, it is an enormous privilege to be reunited to start this VI Binational (Ministerial) Cabinet between Peru and Bolivia," he said.

Afterwards, the presentation of the thematic axes began by four State Ministers —two from each participating country.

The axes are: Environment and Transboundary Water Resources; Security and Defense; Economic Development, Social Policies, and Institutional Strengthening; Infrastructure for Integration and Development.
