Peru's senior volleyball team is ready to take on their Canadian opponents at the 13th edition of the Women's Pan American Cup, taking place in Mexico, as part of the qualification process to the 2015 FIVB World Grand Prix.
Peruvian coach Natalia Malaga stressed the importance of this competence, and said her young team is poised to make significant improvement.
“This team has been training for several months, demonstrating high level of sporting skills resulting in high-quality moves. We do not underestimate any opponent, that is why we will do our best in every match,” she reported.
One of the most promising volleyball players is definitely Angela Leyla, who highlighted teamwork as being a key factor behind this tournament’s triumph.
The Women's Pan-American Volleyball Cup runs through June 20 and it is organized by NORCECA with teams from all over America (North-, South- and Central America, and the Caribbean) to qualify for the World Grand Prix.
This tournament gives one spot for the best South American team and three for Norceca's teams. It also gives spots for the Final Four Women’s Volleyball Cup, the two top ranked NORCECA and CSV teams.
The Men's Pan-American Cup hosted it first edition in 2006, qualifying for the America's Cup.
