The President of the Republic Dina Boluarte on Friday indicated that the United Nations report on social protests underscores the action by the Peruvian Government in attending to citizens affected by the aforementioned event that occurred early in 2023, which —she added— must be recognized.

"It indicates that the Peruvian Government has reacted promptly to be able to attend to the victims of this situation and the injured (citizens) as well," Mrs. Boluarte told reporters in the city of Motupe, northern Peru.

The top official said that protests had been promoted by a group of citizens who were a minority in relation to "the vast majority who wanted to live in peace."

The Head of State affirmed that the report by the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights and others, such as the recent one issued by the UN, are recognized by Peru.

Regarding the first report, she said the Executive Branch took up its recommendations and also expressed disagreement with some topics.

Supervising prevention works

President Boluarte visited northern Lambayeque region to oversee the public works aimed at preventing El Niño phenomenon consequences.

"The only way to seek Peru's development is with articulated, united work, and that is what should call on us: unity, the responsibility of taking care of lives, agriculture, and health," she told the authorities and population that received her in Motupe.

Likewise, the Head of State pointed out that her administration seeks to narrow the poverty gap and improve the population's living conditions.

Similarly, the President said she fights corruption, adding and that she respects what entities, such as the Prosecutor's and the Comptroller's Offices, will decide on this matter.

"We have not come here to rob the people. We all have to work along those lines," she expressed addressing the regional and municipal authorities present at this event.
