The President of the Republic Pedro Castillo on Friday afternoon supervised the situation in Piura region following the 6.1 magnitude earthquake that had struck said northern area.

Upon arrival in the jurisdiction, the Head of State received information —from regional and local authorities— about what had occurred earlier today.

Afterwards, the top official visited the Second Support Hospital in Sullana.

At the site, the President pointed out that his administration's priority is to safeguard the integrity of all Peruvians.

After leaving the medical establishment, he arrived in Jibito population center to address its residents whom he told that his administration will prioritize the health sector.

"We are going to be where the people need us," he expressed, referring to the fact that one of the major problems is the status of hospitals, "on which we must work."

Mr. Castillo also said he will talk about this issue with Piura Governor Servando Garcia and called on the population to be aware of the tasks performed by authorities.
