Peruvian President Martin Vizcarra on Thursday affirmed that serving the population is the purpose for the existence of everyone working at the Government.

"The President, ministers, police officers, secretaries, engineers, accountants, lawyers, technicians, and assistants working in the Government are public servants. We serve the public and we must make every effort to do it correctly and efficiently," the Head of State remarked.

In his speech during the launch of the "Digital Police Report" platform, the top official explained that sometimes this concept is lost, when thinking that a favor is being done to people who approach public institutions, but it must be noted that serving citizens is an obligation.

"The Government is made up of human resources, and the Government's human resources are called public servants, that is, serving the population is the purpose for the existence of everyone working at the Government," he said.

The Peruvian leader recalled that the Digital Government Law was issued two years ago, and that it has translated into formalities and concrete actions over time, approaching modernity and being at the service of the population.

"We congratulate the Interior Ministry and the Peruvian National Police for today's implementation of the Digital Police Report, taking into account that up to 800,000 lost document reports are registered each year," he said.

The President emphasized that before this digital alternative, the population had to go to a police station in person, wasting time and money.

"Now, a report can be made digitally from your home or workplace, using your cell phone or computer," he added.
