The President of the Republic Martin Vizcarra on Friday reported that international flights transporting passengers will resume on October 5.

"We are authorizing the start of passenger transport, by air, via international flights as of October 5, based on the specific regulations that the Ministry of Transport and the Ministry of Health will enact," he expressed.

"International flights will resume, but to destinations that are safe from a health point of view. We will allow travelling to some neighboring countries in the region. We have discussed that with the presidents of South American countries," he added.

"The country will craft the corresponding protocol to welcome foreign travelers, and each of them will be required, among other things, to have a molecular test certificate with a maximum validity of 48 hours," he indicated.

Today's remarks were made in a press conference held at the Government Palace in Lima.

President Vizcarra was joined by Prime Minister Walter Martos and other Cabinet members on the occasion.
