The President of the Republic Dina Boluarte on Friday indicated that the budget expansion for 2024 social programs run by the Development and Social Inclusion Ministry (Midis), especially Pension 65, will help close gaps in the care of the most vulnerable citizens.

"For next year, the budget for Midis' social programs has been increased, namely for Pension 65, to close the gap; hopefully, in 2024 we will have closed the gap in being able to serve our senior citizens," Mrs. Boluarte said after visiting the ONP's Yuyaq Pensioners House facilities in Lima.

"One of our priorities and concerns have been you (senior citizens) since the first moment we assumed this high responsibility as constitutional President of the Republic. As one more sister and daughter, I tell you that we are going to continue standing by your side," she added.

The top official affirmed that the Central Government, through the Ministries of Women-Vulnerable Populations, Economy-Finance, and Health will continue working on proposals for pensioners and the elderly in general.

Preventive checkups

Moreover, the Head of State requested Health Minister Cesar Vasquez to visit all Pensioners House facilities nationwide in order to promote preventive checkups for senior citizens.

President Boluarte watched various activities held at the aforementioned institution aimed at boosting the participation of older adults in yoga, reading, singing, dance, technology, and pastry workshops.
