The President of the Republic Pedro Castillo said that today he hopes to turn the page and to continue working, referring to the impeachment motion that will be debated and put to a vote at Congress this afternoon.

"I always think about the country. We have been chosen to meet major demands. Peruvians know that we have been democratically elected. The will of the people was expressed at the polls and we are not going to let it down," he said in statements to TVPeru.

"Today, we hope to turn the page (on the impeachment issue) and to continue working together," he remarked.

His remarks were made during a ceremony marking the start of the 2022 school year at High Performance Schools (COAR) in Lima's Chaclacayo district.

At the event, Mr. Castillo affirmed that the State will provide the necessary resources to ensure education for everyone, noting that this is a task to which the Government is committed.

"I want to tell the country that, as President and teacher, I am strengthened, happy, and calm seeing children expressing their abilities in their classrooms," he said.

Likewise, the dignitary urged Education Minister Rosendo Serna to travel across the country to verify that all children and adolescents are attending school.

"We will have the largest State budget allocation so that children can move forward," the Head of State emphasized.
