The
President of the Republic Francisco Sagasti on Sunday affirmed that the nation expects a major collaborative effort and respect after election results.
In remarks to El Comercio newspaper, the Head of State noted that he hopes the two candidates competing in the presidential runoff election can meet in the National Agreement once election results are proclaimed.
"This was suggested by governors and politicians. The National Agreement Technical Secretary (Max Hernandez) told me about this suggestion, and I supported it immediately. It is not my proposal; it came from the National Agreement itself. That is what matters," he stated.
According to the statesman, the aim of the meeting is to reach a mini-agreement on mutual respect and governance.
"The whole country is in suspense and requires an enormous collaborative effort, mutual respect, no disqualification, action based on facts and, from then on, collective work during the bicentennial," he pointed out.
Mr. Sagasti indicated that he will meet with his successor to explain what the Transition and Emergency Government has done.
Vaccination
Additionally, the President reiterated that his administration has signed contracts for around 65 million doses of COVID-19 vaccines with various laboratories, which have different ways to schedule their deliveries.
