Peru's President meets World Bank head

The President of the Republic Pedro Castillo held a meeting with World Bank Group (WBG) President David Malpass in New York City on Tuesday afternoon.

Chairman Malpass and President Castillo discussed Peru's reform priorities, including the importance of supporting poor and vulnerable people, promoting growth and prosperity, as well as maintaining sound macroeconomic management and a favorable investment climate. 

Likewise, the WBG head encouraged reforms to Peru's tax code that would spur growth and job creation.

Mr. Malpass mentioned the World Bank's ongoing support for critical health services and offered assistance for the safe reopening of schools, recognizing the importance of investing in human capital and skills.

Both dignitaries also discussed the importance of an inclusive economic recovery and the need to strengthen crisis preparedness in middle-income countries.
