The Government is making efforts to improve Internet connectivity throughout the country in order to ensure the continuity of educational services, Peruvian President Francisco Sagasti reported on Tuesday.

In his speech at the forum "Building the Future of Higher Education," the Head of State admitted that there are difficulties regarding access to connectivity, which need to be resolved.

"We are making an enormous effort to reactivate and speed up high-quality connectivity processes in all regions of the country," the President expressed.

In this context, he said that the existing optical fiber backbone network in the country is "underused."

"We are exploring how to put it at the service of citizens during our short term in office," he said.

According to the statesman, these efforts will allow his administration to promote digitalization and virtualization of educational processes, which were strengthened during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Additionally, the Peruvian leader highlighted the work done by teachers and students in this context.
