The President of the Republic Pedro Castillo on Thursday affirmed that his administration's objective means working with all mayors and mayoresses of the country to provide services required by the population and thus ensure its development.

During the closing of the National Meeting of Mayors and Mayoresses of Peru, Mr. Castillo affirmed that he has been working intensively to provide sanitation, health, education, and infrastructure services —efforts undertaken with local authorities.

"We will continue working with all mayors and mayoresses until the last day (in office), because we owe it to the people and all citizens," he indicated during his speech.

The Head of State stressed that this way the perspectives of local authorities can be raised and people's quality of life can be improved, since the nation's success depends on everyone.

The top official also indicated that ministers must receive, support, and endorse mayors so as to meet their main needs and prioritize the required public works.

"Our administration made the political decision to promote a true decentralization; we are convinced that the good practices by local governments should be applauded; nonetheless, if they work with corruption, that shall be punished with the full weight of the law," he concluded.
