"For our part, we will be totally neutral (during the electoral process), and we are going to leave it up to the people to get to know the candidates well, so that they are elected with good proposals in mind," Mr. Castillo expressed.
Similarly, the Head of State called on current local and regional authorities to continue working until the last day of their administrations in office and to properly invest the budgets that have been allocated to them.
Remarks were made during the ceremony marking the inauguration of Educational Institution Pedro Ruiz Gallo in Chimbote, Santa province.
At the event, the top official stressed that education is a fundamental pillar for families, neighborhoods, and communities to get ahead. "Only education will save the country," he said.
Mr. Castillo argued that for decades people have been denied the right to education. Nonetheless, he said, his administration is working so that education is no longer an act of discrimination, by which only those who have money can be educated.
"Education must be a constitutional right; all of us have the right to education and health, which are fundamental pillars of development," he emphasized.
Furthermore, the dignitary stressed that children deserve to study in modern, safe, and inclusive institutions, which are properly equipped, while relying on health and safety.
Moreover, Mr. Castillo reiterated that this year all efforts are being undertaken to settle the social debt owed by the Peruvian State to the teaching sector.
After greeting Ancash region legislators who accompanied him today, the President insisted on crafting a joint agenda to address the country's urgent issues.
He also reminded citizens that political confrontation does not do the people any good.
