The
on Saturday ensured sustainability for community kitchens during a meeting with leaders of these social organizations from Lima Metropolitan Area and Callao region.
"Talking about a community kitchen means talking about our origins, (...) I remember when my mother used to scratch the pot to feed nine children," he expressed.
Likewise, the top official noted that the budget for community kitchens is important, but also the products coming from the countryside for cooking purposes.
Furthermore, Mr. Castillo saluted the lawmakers who promoted the law that favors community kitchens.
"Apart from everything, they truly supported you, working hand-in-hand with technical teams and with our ministers. We have to shake off personal and petty interests, as well as put organizations and the people first," he expressed.
Moreover, the President pointed out that during the
IX Summit of the Americas he had signed commitments not only to strengthen organizations, but also to once and for all lay the foundations for a country without hunger.
In this regard, Mr. Castillo mentioned that last Friday, during a roundtable discussion event with his counterparts, they talked and agreed that the first task to be fulfilled is to meet people's needs.
"We must know how to give back and distribute the riches that the Americas, Latin America, and the country have to the most vulnerable people," he said.
In his speech, the President also pointed out that during 10 months in office, his opponents wanted to show that he committed illegal acts, which —he emphasized— will not be the case.
Lastly, Mr. Castillo noted that he would submit himself to justice, but to a true justice instead of speculation.
On this occasion, the Head of State was joined by State ministers and some Congress members. Today's event took place at the Government Palace in Lima.
