The President of the Republic Martin Vizcarra on Thursday affirmed that the war against the novel coronavirus is not over, adding it is necessary to continue fighting in order to defeat the virus and boost the economy, which require the efforts and commitment of all citizens, without any exclusions or differences.

"We must be clear that this war is not over yet; the fight continues and must remain in force until the end, until the virus is defeated; we can't lose sight of what the world is going through; a second wave of infections or fresh outbreak is currently taking place," he expressed.

According to the statesman, the fight against the pandemic and the economic boost require the efforts and commitment of all, without exclusions or differences.

Mr. Vizcarra noted that Peru is a country where there are different approaches and points of view.

"However, common sense and responsibility must always prevail over any political calculation or particular interest," he said.

Remarks were made during the ceremony for the Armed Forces Day in Lima.

On this occasion, the President was joined by Prime Minister Walter Martos and Defense Minister Jorge Chavez, among other authorities.
