The President of the Republic Dina Boluarte on Thursday congratulated the Peruvian National Police (PNP) for the capture of two of the most wanted members of the Sendero Luminoso (Shining Path) terrorist organization, in the city of Huanta (Ayacucho region), noting that it constitutes a major blow against terrorism

The Head of State reported that the detainees were identified as: Carlos Solier Zuñiga, comrade Carlos, who is believed to be related to Victor Quispe Palomino, the leader of the organization that operates in the Valley of Apurimac, Ene, and Mantaro Rivers (VRAEM); as well as comrade Joel or 'Dylan'.

According to the dignitary, they are thought to be responsible for despicable actions such as the killing of 16 civilians in the town of San Miguel del Ene of Satipo province (Junin region) and the ambush in the town of Pichari (Cusco region), which left 7 police agents dead and one injured.

"These captures constitute a major blow against terrorism and show that the work carried out by our law enforcement agents yields results," she remarked.

"We will continue working more united than ever to wipe out the remnants of terror and achieve pacification, security, and development for the benefit of all Peruvians," Mrs. Boluarte added.

The country's top official affirmed that Peruvians do not want to go back to the dark past of the 80s and 90s, but a united homeland that stands for dialogue and the broad unity of all sectors, as well as peace, development, and social inclusion.

This morning, the Head of State participated in the launch of the new motorized police patrol strategy "Halcon Cazador" (Hunting Falcon), which is developed within the "Abanico Verde" (Green Fan) operation plan of the Peruvian National Police (PNP).

As part of this initiative, the Government delivered 245 motorized patrol cars, which will be distributed across Metropolitan Lima.
