The President of the Republic Martin Vizcarra leads the ceremony to commemorate the Armed Forces Day at the Flag Roundabout in Lima.

The Head of State is joined by Prime Minister Walter Martos, Defense Minister Jorge Chavez, Congress Chairman Manuel Merino, and the high command of the armed institutes.

With this commemorative act, one more year is remembered since the celebration of Armed Forces Day was institutionalized on September 24, 1977, through Supreme Decree No. 003-77-CC.FA.

On this day, the Great Marshal and Patron of the Arms of Peru, the Virgin of Mercy —who is considered a spiritual guide of the country's soldiers— is also honored.

Given the COVID-19 pandemic, the ceremony follows the rules of social distancing and biosafety protocols.
