The President of the Republic Pedro Castillo on Friday affirmed that the Armed Forces are an example of integrity and soundness, as well as the helping hand for citizens most in need.

During his participation in the Armed Forces Day Ceremony, the Head of State pointed out that —on the country's Independence Bicentennial— military institutions are mature, constitutional, and correct in their being and behavior.

"The Armed Forces are an example of integration, integrity, and soundness in their conduct; they are the helping hand for our most needy communities, as well as the unbreakable and antagonistic enemies of those who seek to undermine democracy and those who seek to destroy Peru and its memory," he expressed.

"Two hundred years later, we can say that we rely on Armed Forces that are mature, constitutional, and correct in their being and behavior," he added.

The Head of State highlighted the work of military members in the fight against terrorism and the COVID-19 pandemic, in defense of Peruvians' lives.

In this sense, there is no place in the country where the Armed Forces' presence is not felt, he emphasized.

Moreover, the top official highlighted the fulfillment of each assigned task with efficiency despite the difficulties of distance, time, or scarcities.

Today's event also saw the presence of Defense Minister Walter Ayala, Judiciary Chairwoman Elvia Barrios, as well as high authorities of the public administration and high-ranking officials of Peruvian armed institutions.

This commemorative act marked one more year since the celebration of Armed Forces Day was institutionalized, on September 24, 1977, by means of Supreme Decree No. 003-77-CC.FA.
