Prime Minister Guido Bellido on Thursday ratified the current Government’s commitment to make progress on a transformation process, which will lead the nation towards decentralization in the economic, fiscal, and tax-related aspects.

During his speech at the inauguration of the 15th GORE-Executive meeting, the Cabinet chief said the efforts by authorities should be aimed at solving each of the problems faced by regions and provinces.

"That is why we are here, to make decisions of a strategic nature in the decentralization process currently underway towards the development of the country," he said.

The Cabinet chief stressed that President Pedro Castillo, who will arrive in Iquitos tomorrow to participate in the meeting with regional governors, is committed to achieving a true decentralization in the country.

Bellido affirmed it is important to turn some goals and objectives set at the 15th Executive-GORE meeting into concrete results and indicated that these could be included in an urgency decree to address different projects expected for years in the regions.

The high-ranking official said that —although no government can solve the country's problems 100%— it is important to move forward in meeting the most important requirements and working with the population.

"We understand that there are not unlimited resources, there are limited resources. Thus, it is important to prioritize, make expenditures or strategic investments," he indicated.

Likewise, Bellido emphasized that —during the decentralization process— it is essential to fight against corruption at all government levels.
