Peruvian Prime Minister Alberto Otarola on Monday announced that the third phase of the Chavimochic Irrigation Project, in La Libertad region, was awarded to the Government of Canada.
The Cabinet chief noted that the bid envelopes were opened today at noon. The bids were submitted by the governments of the Netherlands and Canada, with the latter being the winner.
"This means that Chavimochic will be implemented and, as the President of the Republic (Dina Boluarte) said, this is a government of actions and not words," Otarola remarked.
Moreover, the senior official highlighted that the implementation of the irrigation project represents an investment of more than US$750 million, which will benefit families and the entire population in the north of the country.
"High engineering works will be carried out and, above all, more than 40,000 hectares and thousands of jobs will be crated in La Libertad region and other regions," the Executive Branch's representative added.
Likewise, he pointed out that the Head of State will be traveling to said region in the coming weeks within the framework of Chavimochic project's implementation.
"This is further proof that the Government fulfills what it offers," Otarola stressed.
