Peruvian Prime Minister Alberto Otarola has confirmed that the Executive Branch has the necessary resources to respond to weather events occurring in various parts of the country.
"The Government is absolutely prepared to address El Niño phenomenon and seasonal rains. Furthermore, ministers are willing to react positively in defense of the population," the head of the Ministerial Cabinet said.
In this regard,
Defense Minister Jorge Chavez stated that the eight emergencies caused by the rise of rivers in the regions of Loreto, Huanuco, Pasco, and Lima have been attended to.
Likewise, the Cabinet chief explained that, by order of the
President of the Republic Dina Boluarte, a group of State ministers will promote public policies to prepare the country and the population for an eventual major earthquake.
"We will carry out a series of exploratory works, and a special budget will be allocated to prepare and work with the population, especially with local governments, on all prevention tasks in the event of a huge earthquake," he stressed.
Furthermore, in order to revive the major engines of the economy, Otarola announced that the session addressed the promotion of large infrastructure projects such as the New Central Highway and the Alto Piura Special Irrigation and Hydropower Project.
