on Friday affirmed that the Government has worked intensively to face the coronavirus pandemic, adopting urgent measures based on the strengthening of preventive activities.
The high-ranking official —who participated in an extraordinary and virtual session of the Congressional Health Commission— indicated that the adopted measures seek a balance between health care and the economy of families, which "has been seriously affected"
during the pandemic that began in March 2020.
"And we will launch a historic vaccination campaign, as has been announced, prioritizing the personnel who are in the front line, as well as vulnerable populations. In this sense, the participation of the intersectoral and governmental sectors, as well as that of the private sector and civil society is fundamental because this is a national challenge," she said.
Actions
This plan was approved on November 9, 2020, anticipating what could happen in the following months.
"The purpose of this plan is to improve the government's preparedness and response capacity to reduce the mortality linked to COVID-19; the objective is to reduce infections through prevention, as well as to lower severe cases by strengthening the primary care level and reduce fatal cases through treatment at the secondary care level," she added.
