Prime Minister Pedro Angulo on Sunday reiterated that dialogue is the way to solve problems in Peru, expressing his desire for an open door policy within the State.

In an interview with TV Peru, the Cabinet chief said that, according to the information he has received, the measures ordered by the Government —in response to the violence that has occurred in some areas of the country— are working.

In this regard, the high-ranking official noted that blocked roads are being reopened, airports are being restored, and the violence of people who have demonstrated in the streets is decreasing.

"Definitely, there have been results in Arequipa, La Libertad, and Huanuco, where spaces for dialogue have been generated," Angulo pointed out.

"The President (Dina Boluarte) not only encourages us to talk, but to take social action. The protest is based on the frustrations of citizens," he added.

The head of the ministerial Cabinet confirmed that citizens have the right to march, to carry signs, and to even protest against authorities, but not to destroy private and public property.

"That is not acceptable," he emphasized.

The Prime Minister noted that the provisions adopted by the Executive Branch —through the General Command of the Armed Forces and the General Command of the National Police— are legitimate and based on the law.

"If excesses have occurred, they will be investigated. The Public Ministry is the competent authority," he explained.
