Prime Minister Anibal Torres on Monday affirmed that the decentralization process is a pending task for the Peruvian State, since it began almost 20 years ago and has not led towards the expected results. Nonetheless, this Government is determined to face this task.

"Decentralization is a pending task for the State; it began almost 20 years ago but has not shown the expected total result; so, it is time to make an assessment of this process. This administration is determined to face this task," he expressed.

The Cabinet chief participated together with authorities from Universidad Nacional Mayor de San Marcos in the launch of the National Decentralization Observatory —an instrument in charge of the
Presidency of the Council of Ministers' Decentralization Secretariat.

"We are creating the National Decentralization Observatory, whose objective is focused on knowledge management. We want to promote the participation of academicians, civil society, and citizens," he said.

Likewise, the high-ranking official indicated that teaching and research cannot be purely theoretical, but that science must tend to create technology.

Present at the ceremony were also Development-Social Inclusion Minister Dina Boluarte and Universidad Nacional Mayor de San Marcos Rector Jeri Ramon, among others.
