Peru's national soccer team finished in 20th place at the 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia —after Senegal, Iran, and South Korea, among the teams that did not reach the Round of 16.

According to experts surveyed by Andina news agency, the result will increase the value of the 23-player side since the balance is positive, taking into account the return of Peru to a World Cup event after 36 years.

Peru ended third in Group C, with 3 points and 0 goal difference, thus leaving the tournament in the early stage.

Yet, the Incas are ranked two places ahead of 2014 champions Germany, which finished 22nd (with 3 points; -2 goal difference) and bottom of Group F.

Now that the group stage is over, the countries that qualified for the Round of 16 include France, Argentina, Uruguay, Portugal, Brazil, Mexico, Belgium, Japan, Spain, Russia, Croatia, Denmark, Sweden, Switzerland, England, and Colombia.
