20:51 | Lima, Mar. 25.

Peruvian mining exports amounted to US$3.104 billion, which reflected an increase of 15% compared to the same month last year (US$2.707 billion), the National Society of Mining, Oil, and Energy (SNMPE) reported.

The energy-mining society pointed out that the increase in mining exports in the first month of the year is explained by the higher value of shipments of all metals with the exception of lead, zinc, and molybdenum.

In this regard, it stressed that mining exports represented 58% of all Peruvian shipments in January 2024.

The SNMPE announced that copper exports totaled US$1.440 million last January, an increase of 6.6% compared to the same month in 2023 (US$1.351 billion).

The growth in copper exports in January was due to the fact that the volume increased 3.4%, while the price of this metal grew 3% compared to the same month last year.

The SNMPE indicated that gold exports reached US$1.071 billion in January 2024, which represented a growth of 69.8% over the same month in 2023 (US$630 million).

Exports of this precious metal were favored by an increase in volume (58.2%) and price (7.4%) compared to the same month in 2023.

Finally, the energy-mining society stated that copper represented 46% of the value of mining exports; while gold accounted for 35% and iron for 6%.
