Peruvian Minister of Foreign Affairs Cesar Landa held a meeting with
Inter-American Commission on Human Rights (IACHR) First Vice-President and rapporteur for Peru, Edgar Ralon Orellana.
During his official visit to Peru, the First Vice-President of the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights, together with Minister Landa, reaffirmed their commitment to the promotion and protection of human rights.
Moreover, the meeting highlighted the efforts that are being made in the country on the matter.
The head of the Torre Tagle Palace —the main headquarters of the Peruvian Ministry of Foreign Affairs— explained that Peru has a policy of openness towards special procedures of the Inter-American Human Rights System (IAHRS) and the Universal Human Rights System.
The IACHR is a principal and autonomous organ of the Organization of American States (OAS) whose mission is to promote and protect human rights in the American hemisphere.
It is composed of seven independent members who serve in a personal capacity.
