Peru's food exports to South Korea up 42.7% in Jan-Feb 2022

Peruvian food exports to South Korea totaled US$74,003,000 in January-February this year, a 42.7% growth compared to the same period in 2021 (US$51,834,000), accounting for over 90% of Peru's non-traditional exports to said destination, the Association of Peruvian Exporters (Adex) reported on Tuesday.

Agribusiness (US$37,412,000) saw a growth of 26.3%, with products such as fresh grapes (US$15,150,000) and fresh or dried mangoes (US$12,504,000) leading the list.

Also of note were uncooked mangoes or mangoes cooked in water, beans, bananas, ginger, and strawberries, among others.

For its part, fishing for direct human consumption (US$36,591,000) increased 64.5%, driven by sales of frozen whole prawns (US$15,903,000), prepared or preserved giant squid (US$9,252,000) and frozen giant squid (US$5,878,000), as well as livers, roes, shrimp tails, caviar substitutes, among others.

In order to promote exports of these products to the world, Adex will hold Expoalimentaria 2022, the largest food and beverage trade show in the region.

This year's edition of Expoalimentaria will be held from September 21 to 23 at the Jockey Club Convention Center.

At the event, national and foreign participants will have the opportunity to close deals, make business contacts and update their knowledge through specialized conferences. 

Moreover, a wide range of containers and packaging, equipment and technology, as well as logistics services will be on display.
