Peru's FA Min meets with U.S. State Secretary

Peruvian Foreign Affairs Minister Oscar Maurtua spoke with United States Secretary of State Antony Blinken within the framework of the Ministerial Conference on Migration held in the Colombian city of Bogota.

During the meeting, Minister Maurtua thanked the U.S. dignitary for the cooperation provided to Peru in the fight against COVID-19.

Besides, they addressed various aspects of the bilateral relationship, highlighting the South American country's commitment to democracy.

Furthermore, the participation of our country in the Summit for Democracy —which will take place in the United States next December— was confirmed.

Moreover, the Peruvian diplomat expressed the request to support our country's accession to the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), and the commitment of our country to the fight against climate change, with a view to the next Glasgow Summit.

Minister Maurtua and Secretary Blinken also agreed to maintain a constructive dialogue on common agenda issues, democratic governance, as well as on the fight against corruption, which causes so much damage to our economies.
