Peruvian Foreign Affairs Minister Javier Gonzalez-Olaechea held a bilateral meeting with Chilean counterpart, Alberto van Klaveren, on the occasion of the Pacific Alliance Council of Ministers meeting.

As is known, Peru currently exercises the
Pacific Alliance Pro-Tempore Presidency.

At this meeting, both ministers set up the Peru-Chile Bilateral Prospective Council (CBP), which was tasked with analyzing and reflecting on the future of bilateral relations.

In this regard, the Chilean Foreign Affairs Ministry reported that the CBP will rely on three main bodies, these being the Executive Secretariat, the Advisory Committee, and the Thematic Groups.

The Executive Secretariat will be in charge of leading the Council and will be responsible for proposing working agendas, systematizing the monitoring of agreements and commitments adopted by countries, coordinating thematic groups, coordinating the advisory team, and maintaining a prospective vision of the bilateral relationship through annual reports.

In turn, the Committee will help define the Council's priorities and reflect on how to address the main bilateral and international challenges.

Thus, it will be made up of representatives from the public, private, and academic sectors, which will allow for greater breadth and vision of the topics to be discussed.

Lastly, the Thematic Groups will be agreed upon by the Executive Secretariat supported by the Advisory Committee in accordance with the definition of selected topics.

These will have the task of carrying out analysis and gathering of information, proposing courses of action and names of people linked to the groups' work.

The ministerial meeting took place in the Chilean capital, Santiago, on Wednesday.
