On March 4, the Embassy of Peru in Paris received from the association "Les Amis du Patrimoine" seven archaeological assets belonging to the South American nation's cultural heritage, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has reported.

These assets were initially handed over to said association anonymously for their return and subsequent repatriation to the Peruvian State.

It was possible to identify the archaeological pieces and the importance of their soon return to Peruvian territory thanks to the coordination and joint efforts undertaken by the Embassy of Peru in France, the General Directorate for Cultural Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the General Directorate for the Defense of Cultural Heritage of the Ministry of Culture.

The aforementioned cultural items belong to the pre-Hispanic styles of the Huaura, Chancay, Chimu, and Chimu-Inca Cultures, developed during the Middle Horizon period (600 AD - 1,000 AD) and Late Horizon (1,476 AD - 1,532 AD).

In addition, given their state of conservation and integrity, these would have come from the looting of archaeological sites or unauthorized excavations and would have been illegally exported from the South American country.

It must be noted that "Les Amis du Patrimoine" is a French association dedicated to the promotion and dissemination of Latin American culture.

In recent years, it has particularly focused on disseminating Peru's cultural heritage in the French society.
